Somali Mental Health Network
The Somali Mental Health Network (SMHN) was established in May 2008. Members of the SMHN include representatives of 10 local groups working with Camden’s Somali community, and 3 representatives from the statutory sector in Camden. SMHN members have recently invited other local organisations with an interest in the Somali community to join the Network as co-opted members.

Mental Health and Khat Peer Education Project
From October 2010 to March 2011, VAC piloted the Mental Health and Khat Peer Education Project, to tackle the issue of khat use and its impact on mental health. VAC worked closely with Camden’s Somali community in devising and delivering this Project. The Project was successful and has also highlighted ways in which future work can be done around this subject.
For full details of the Project, including outcomes, challenges and recommendations, please see the Mental Health and Khat Peer Education Project Report.
