Background.
In May 2007 the Quirk Review into the community management and ownership of assets identified exciting opportunities for voluntary and community sector organisations to create long-term community benefits in their neighbourhoods.
Local authorities around the country are now looking at how to implement the recommendations of the Quirk Review to suit local conditions, and how best to work with the voluntary and community sector.
This conference is an important contribution to the dialogue between Camden Council and the local voluntary and community sector on the issue of community premises and will give voluntary and community organisations the chance to find out more about, and share their views on a number of important initiatives. These include:
- What is happening nationally
- Camden Council’s Property Strategy
- Camden Council’s Asset Transfer Policy
- Development of an independent Community Assets Enterprise.
