JOB PURPOSE: To provide a fit for purpose programme for secondary and tertiary category service providers in the field of alcohol and substance misuse. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The project will be overseen by a small Steering Group composed of the commissioners, VAC, the project worker and a voluntary sector primary category service provider, with specific additional expertise being co-opted as and when required. The group will meet once a quarter to review progress, learning and plan for the future. The post holder will be required to service this group and undertake the following tasks: To work with 50 voluntary and community groups, delivering secondary and tertiary category services in the area of alcohol and/or substance misuse, within the period of one calendar year. To deliver an outreach programme that includes information clinics and presentations on Commissioning & Contracting, the Common Assessment Framework. Lead Professional and Safer Recruitment and one to one support to organisations in: Assessing the current position of their service with regard to the above skills and where appropriate securing access to information clinics and external training Completing the self assessment checklist for Fit for Purpose this will include: Sourcing evidence and identifying staff and volunteers knowledge of substance misuse and the individual and group skills required. Reviewing and confirming the appropriate service category. Designing, drawing up and agreeing an action plan, based on the findings of the self assessment and the areas in need of improvement and/or concern identified. Providing basic training and sign posting to other sources of training and materials. Designing, drawing up and displaying prominently a local resources information sheet. On completion of the implementation of the action plan to review the process and to collate the lessons learnt into an evaluation report to be used to inform future practice. To attend the Councils monthly Integrated Working Team meetings. OTHER DUTIES To contribute to VACs role as a Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) by providing development support to groups and maintaining an awareness of Camdens voluntary and community sector and its requirements. Together with other members of the team to prepare material on important current issues and activities for publication in Voluntary Matters, VACs bi monthly newsletter, and in other relevant media, and for presentation at meetings and conferences.
