Better Governance Project
The Better Governance through Workforce Development project, a new initiative funded by the Big Lottery Fund, offers management committee members or trustees from organisations based in Camden, an opportunity to improve their competence in managing a community or voluntary organisation by:
- Gaining knowledge and skills to effectively lead and run their organisations
- Cascade down their learning to other trustees
- Access customised one to one support for their organisations
How can the programme support you?
By offering trustees from small and medium size organisations based in and providing services in Camden to:
- Participating in a five and a half days training programme, split over three months on the following areas at basic level:
- Leadership & strategic planning, including:
- Developing a Fundraising strategy (half day)
- Financial management and change management
- Partnership and consortia working
- Governance and operational management
- Legal duties of trustees including in employment and health & safety
- Enrolling for a further accredited three days course “training the trainer”, Level 1, so trustees can cascade down the skills gained in the above course to other trustees.
- Accessing tailored one to one support for your organisation if needed
- Co-training with VAC staff if successful in the accredited training course
- Explore the option of setting a community enterprise as to deliver training throughout London
The project is flexible enough to accommodate the needs of trustees and their organisations. You may choose to:
- Undertake the six non accredited training sessions on governance and management areas only, or
- Once you complete the six non accredited sessions, you may continue taking the three days accredited sessions on “training the trainer” at the Mary Ward Centre so you can deliver training on governance areas.
Either option you choose and if needed, we will assign a staff member from VAC for your organisation to access one to one support and help you translate the learning into practical improvements in your organisation.
